Author: Evie Campbell, MSW

This module was developed by the Center for Regional and Tribal Child Welfare Studies at the University of Minnesota—Duluth, a partner of the Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare.

This module provides an overview of the historical context that led to the development of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), the Minnesota Indian Family Preservation Act (MIFPA), and the Tribal-State Agreement. This module also includes a discussion of how ICWA is implemented and applied to cases.
